Bali Photographs

Bali is one of the most beautiful islands on earth. It is now slowly being destroyed by tourism but still retains areas of original beauty once you move off the main tourist path. The island is only 145 km in length with a growing population of about 4.25 million people. Our favourite destination is always the upland town of Ubud, famous for its strong tradition of crafts and dance. It used to take about half an hour to travel there decades ago and it now takes up to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Ubud appears to be one of the most decorated regions on earth with spectacular ceremonial clothes and ritual objects as well as beautifully carved architectural structures. And all this surrounded still by those magnificent rice paddies, fed by the waters of Gunung Agung, the holy mountain. Here are some of my favourite photographic moments taken while visiting over the last 30 years or so.
